Osijek Airport is 20 km away from Osijek and within an hour you can reach Hungary, Serbia and Bosnia & Herzegovina.

Osijek is the fourth largest city in Croatia with a population of 114,616 in 2001. It is the largest city and the economic and cultural centre of the eastern Croatian region of Slavonia, as well as the administrative centre of Osijek-Baranja county. Osijek is located on the right bank of the river Drava, 25 kilometres (16 mi) upstream of its confluence with the Danube, at an elevation of 94 metres (310 ft).

In forests and waters of Park of nature Kopacki rit you will find everything that nature has to show in its infinite diversity. This world-famous natural wetlands, as the largest natural fish nursery, is a great place for leisure and recreation for birdwatchers, fishermen and hunters. This is the habitat of many thousands of game animals such as roe deer, large red deer, wild boar and feathered game. You can find natural beauty in every spot of the Region that lies between the Rivers Sava, Drava and Danube.

Breathtaking greenery established Osijek as the greenest Croatian city. Osijek has 17 parks in total area of 394.000m². Two of them are protected national landmarks, The Municipal Park of King Petar Krešimir IV and the Tomislav Park.

RICH HARITAGE

Osijek and region abounds with cultural and historical heritage, unique architecture, churches, castles and fortresses (Osijek, Slavonski Brod).

Osijek's exceptionally worthy baroque fortresses Tvrdja represents a successful blend of military and civil administration and sacral architecture. Today is favorite tourist spot with galleries, museums, bars and restaurants. Other important sights: the main square, Co-cathedral of St. Peter and St. Paul, the promenade along the Drava, the suspension pedestrian bridge, Secession Boulevard in Osijek and Croatian National Theatre.

The history behind the castles is captivating: hunter's style castle in Donji Miholjac, the castles of Eugen Savojski in Bilje, the Counts of Pejacevic in Virovitica, Našice and Osijek, the baroque castle of the Counts Norman-Prandau in Valpovo, the castle of the family Odescalchi in Ilok.

Except of Cathedral of St Peter in Djakovo, one of Croatian cultural asset worth to see is Djakovo Studfarm, the oldest institution of Lipizzaner horse breeding and selection.
