It takes just 2 hours from London to get to the Kvarner region - one of Croatia’s best kept secrets. A land of bays and romance, seafront promenades, manicured gardens and rugged mountains and forests. Islands and resorts, wine, seafood, beaches, watersports and sunshine can all be done in one week. But we think you’ll stay longer!
Explore the Kvarner islands of Rab, Losinj, Krk, and Cres by regular boat excursions, watch dolphins swim free off the island of Losinj, walk the trails of the deep green Gorski Kotar forest, go wine and olive oil tasting, dive in our blue Adriatic Sea or cycle our beautiful trails and riverside paths inland.

Shopping in Rijeka
From the modern shopping malls of Rijeka to small traditional shops and studios of artisans in hillside towns, there is always an interesting souvenir to bring home. Art galleries, decorated ceramics and jewellery shops sit side by side in the beautiful old towns . Hand made lace and woven items are often found at individual stalls by the waterfront. Don’t forget our amazing olive oil, wines and liqueurs.
The best scampi in Croatia
The best scampi in Croatia come from our Kvarner Bay and are really huge langoustines not the breaded type found elsewhere. Risottos and seafood pasta, daily fresh fish, fruits, vegetable and salads (much of it organic) and some of the best wild asparagus in the country. Local olive oil, air dried ham, cherry and chestnut specialities not forgetting the famous Zlahtina white wine and our liqueurs.
The distinct cuisine of the Gorski Kotar region is not to be missed featuring rich stews and wild mushrooms.
In the Kvarner region, no matter how small the place, almost every town has its very own summer festival of music, dance or theatre.
