Madonna di Campiglio

Set in the Trentino Brenta Dolomites and part of the Skirama Adamello Brenta ski circuit, Madonna di Campiglio is a chic resort with easy and intermediate slopes that attracts an affluent, almost exclusively Italian clientele. A favourite with the Ferrari team (one of the pistes has been named after the F1 champion Michael Schumacher),the town centre is compact: the cable car to Cinque Laghi (to the west), the cable car Spinale and the gondola to Pradalago (to the north) bracket most of the central hotels, and are about five-minute walk apart. In Madonna Italian style prevails: shopping in smart shops and promenading in the early evening are two favourite sports. In Madonna there are some of the most charming well-being hotels of the Vitanova club. Its ski area is linked to the resorts of Marilleva and Folgarida in Val di Sole and will soon be linked with nearby Pinzolo. The slopes above Marilleva are excellent, steep reds with a few blues higher up in the mountain, much better for adventurous intermediates than Campiglio's main Pradalago slopes.

The resorts is a mecca for snowboarders (see the "Ursus" fun park in the Grostè area).
