Stockholm (Skavsta) Airport is situated 100 KM south of Stockholm and 7 KM northwest from Nyköping. Airport coaches operate directly to and from Stockholm and Norrköping/Linköping. The local train station in Nyköping is 7 km away.

A taxi to Nyköping costs from SEK 200 and take approximately 10 minutes, while a taxi to the centre of Stockholm costs approximately SEK 1,300 and should take approximately 60 minutes.

Two bus services operate from Skavsta to Nyköping no. 515 and 715. Bus tickets can be bought at “Flygbussarna” Ticket Office for Airport coaches. On the bus no cash is allowed, only credit card.

Nyköping Castle

Nyköping Castle is situated where the Nyköping River flows into the harbour. Climb the King’s Tower and see swords, daggers and other mediaeval weapons used by knights and soldiers. Open daily from June –August. Free entrance.

Archipelago life

In our archipelago, with it’s thousands of islands, it’s easy to find your own little paradise. Get close to the sea in a kayak. See eagles and seals, picnic on a island and swim off cliffs. Don’t miss a boat tour on the M/S Storsand. The boat leaves Monday-Wednesday during the summer from Nyköping harbour for a two-hour tour of the archipelago.

Look an elk in the eye

The baroque manor house of Öster Malma has been perched above Lake Malmasjön for almost 350 years. The manor house is located 30km from Nyköping, and the best way to get there is by car. There are five large enclosures for wildlife next to the manor house with elk (moose), red deer and fallow deer! Walk around in the enclosures and see the animals close up.

Stendörren – experience the archipelago without a boat

At Stendörren Nature Reserve, you can reach the archipelago without a boat. Take a walk on suspension bridges out to the islands and the open sea! There are picnic areas, hiking trails, fire pits, sheds, lavatories and a special path for wheelchair users and prams. Stendörren is intended for a one-day visit and situated appr. 25 km from Nyköping.

Sörmland Trail

Fly to Stockholm/Skavsta. Start walking on the 1000 km Sörmlandsleden trail straight from the arrivals hall. Follow the orange paint on trees and posts. The Southern route(97 km/6 days), will take you through wonderfully varied nature. Finally you’ll reach the dramatic coast, where the hilly terrain will reward you with opportunities for swimming and wild views. You’ll follow the Baltic Sea coast that is completely uninhabited for long stretches.

Stroll through the heart of Nyköping

Nyköping was founded in 1187 and is one of the oldest cities in Sweden. Small fisherman’s cottages from the 18th century line the slope down to Nyköping Castle. Along the river and through the town, you’ll find shopping, local handicrafts and art. Walk to Nyköping Harbour and don’t miss the classic car show every Wednesday from June to August.

Visit Duke Karl’s Market

Duke Karl’s Market – a medieval market at Nyköping Castle ¬– will be held on 25 August 2012. You’ll encounter merchants, artisans and jesters and be entertained by song and music. In July, one of Sweden’s largest summer theatres will be hosting a play at Nyköping Castle. Experience history where it actually happened one cold December night in 1317. On 3-4 August, Nyköping is celebrating its annual festival with music and events throughout the town centre.
