Top Tips to help you achieve a smooth and punctual flight

Ryanair is Europe's most punctual airline, as verified by the UK Civil Aviation Authority. We are committed to doing all we can to operate flights on time. You can help us enormously by being fully prepared for your flight. In particular, by pre-booking on our website for items such as checked baggage/priority boarding/baby car/booster/seats/sports/musical equipment; arriving at the airport in good time; travelling with the correct cabin baggage allowance; having the correct travel documentation ready for inspection at check-in, at security points and at the gate; and arriving at the boarding gate in plenty of time.

Before travel:

  • Check you have all the necessary documentation for all passengers traveling in your party (including children and infants) - confirmed reservation number, passports, visa. For further information on click here.
  • Know your flight details - flight number, departure time, and the airport/terminal. For full information on all airport locations and facilities please click here.
  • Know your baggage allowances and be aware of restricted items.

Checked Baggage is any item accepted for carriage in the aircraft hold, including bags, infant, musical, sports and mobility equipment. (mobility equipment and childrens' pushchairs are carried free of charge)

Each passenger is permitted to check- in up to a maximum of 2 bags with a maximum weight of 15 kilos per bag (subject to the payment of the applicable checked baggage fees). Checked baggage can be purchased online at the time of booking or via the ‘Manage My Booking’ section of our website. Checked bags can also be purchased via Ryanair reservations up to 4 hours prior to the scheduled flight departure (subject to call centre opening hours) or up to 40 minutes prior to the scheduled flight departure time at the airport.

Checked baggage fees are charged per person/per one way flight. Discounted fees are available online. If checked baggage fees are paid for either at the airport or through a Ryanair call centre, a higher rate applies. (Click here for rate details)

No pooling or sharing of baggage allowances is permitted, within an individual’s baggage allowance or amongst a party travelling on the same reservation. Each checked bag is permitted a maximum 15 kilos allowance. In the event that you are travelling with 2 checked bags please be aware that no pooling of individual checked bag allowance is permitted (each bag is permitted a maximum weight of 15 kilos).

Any passenger exceeding their 15kg personal checked baggage allowance (per checked bag purchased) will be charged for the excess weight at the applicable rate per kilo. (Click here for rate details)

Sports or musical equipment including but not limited to large fishing rods, golf clubs, bicycles, scooters, fencing equipment, surfboards, bodyboards, snowboards and skis and large musical instruments including but not limited to harps, double bass and drums are inherently unsuitable for carriage by airlines operating fast turnarounds such as Ryanair. However, these items may be carried in the hold of the aircraft in addition to your personal checked baggage allowance (up to a limit of 20 kilos per item) upon payment of an additional discounted fee per item/ per one way flight, if booked online. If the item is not booked until arrival at the airport or through a Ryanair call centre the full fee will apply (Click here for rate details). Any sports or musical item weighing over the 20 kilos will be charged for any excess baggage weight at the applicable excess baggage rate per kilo.

Smaller musical items such as a guitar, violin or viola which exceed our cabin baggage dimensions may be carried in the cabin if a seat for it has been reserved and the appropriate fare paid. There is no cabin or checked baggage allowance associated with the purchase of an extra seat.

CABIN BAGGAGE - Strictly one item of cabin baggage per passenger (excluding infants) weighing up to 10kg with maximum dimensions of 55cm x 40cm x 20cm is permitted (handbag, briefcase, laptops, shop purchases, cameras etc must be carried within your permitted 1 piece of cabin baggage). We reserve the right to cancel your reservation without refund and to deny you boarding if you arrive at the boarding gate with more than one cabin baggage or if that item exceeds the maximum dimensions. If you are unsure, check at the Bag Drop desk before going through security. There is no cabin or checked baggage allowance associated with the purchase of an extra seat. Cabin baggage must contain no prohibited items (Click here for details)

There is no checked/cabin baggage allowance for infants. However, one fully collapsible pushchair per child is carried free of charge and does not need to be prebooked. Additional infant equipment such as car/booster seats and travel cots up to a maximum of 20kilos per item may be carried in addition to your personal checked baggage allowance. Items of infant equipment (car/booster seats and travel cots) are charged at a separate fee per item/per one way flight. Any infant equipment weighing over the 20 kilos allowance will be charged for the excess at the applicable excess baggage rate per kilo. (Click here for rate details)

Mobility Equipment is carried free of charge.

For health and safety reasons Ryanair does not accept for carriage any individual item exceeding 32 kilos or with combined dimensions of more than 81cms (height), 119cms (width) and 119cms (depth). This weight limit does not apply to mobility equipment.
