Flughafen-Information

Aeroporto "Giuseppe Verdi" Di Parma is located approximately 1 Km from the city of Parma. There is no rail connection but there is a bus connection operated by TEP which departs from the front of the terminal building. Journey time to the city takes 15 minutes and costs €0.90. There are also taxis available from outside the terminal and cost is approximately €10.00 and journey time is 10 minutes.

Celebrate the works and masterpieces of the great composer Giuseppe Verdi from 1st to 28th October 2011 Un ballo in maschera, Falstaff, Aida, Messa da Requiem, opera and listening guides comparing singers from the present and the glorious past, conferences, readings from the masterpieces of literature which inspired the opera libretti, exhibitions, shows, a range of productions catering for every level of musical expertise, theatre, dance and avantgarde visual arts.

Baptistry (Battistero)

Among the greatest Romanesque buildings in northern Italy, the baptistery was the work of Benedetto Antelami.

Il Duomo

Built in the Romanesque style in the 11th century, with 13th-century Lombard lions guarding its main porch, the dusty pink Duomo stands side by side with a campanile constructed in the Gothic-Romanesque style and completed in 1294.

National Gallery (Galleria Nazionale) & National Archaeological Museum (Museo Archeologico Nazionale)

Palazzo della Pilotta once housed the Farnese family in Parma's heyday as a duchy in the 16th century.

Abbey of St. John (San Giovanni Evangelista)

Behind the Duomo is this church of unusual interest.

Arturo Toscanini Birthplace and Museum (Casa Natale e Museo di Arturo Toscanini)

This is the house where the great conductor was born in 1867.

In the historic center of town, the building that houses Parizzi dates from 1551, when it first opened as an inn; the current restaurant was opened in 1958 by the father of the present owner.

If you don't mind driving 1.6km (1 mile) out of town along the road to Langhirano, this is a Parma classic.

A culture vulture's alternative

After La Scala in Milan, the Teatro Regio di Parma is one of the most important opera houses in the world. Giuseppe Verdi whom Parma Airport is named after was from this area, as was Maria Luiga, Duchess of Parma, the second wife of Napoleone Bonaparte, and Toscannini.

Feel good eat well

Parma's unique cuisine is based on Prosciutto di Parma and Parmesan Cheese. Taste the real thing in the many restaurants in Parma's Province. The food is unique, but so is the water, so why not follow in the footsteps of the rich and famous by taking the sulphur waters at nearby Tabiano Terme and Salsomaggiore Terme where there are cures for almost anything.

Parma is in a strategic location

Parma Airport is only 15 minutes from the main line railway station connecting Milan - Naples and the South. By renting a car, the main A1 motorway, linking Milan, Bologna, Florence, Rome and Naples is easily accessible.

Parma one of the richest city in Italy

Parma is at the center of one of the richest industrial areas of Europe offering a one stop port of entry for many business visitors. EFSA the European Food Safety Authority now has its headquarters in Parma.
