When to book cheap flights to Venice

If you want to see the city when it’s less crowded, it’s best to book your flights to Venice between November and March. February is a great time to fly to Venice, especially if you want to catch the famous carnival when the whole city buzzes with an exciting party atmosphere.

What to see in Venice? 

  • The Carnevale, for 10 days each February, Venice bursts into colour and life for the world-famous Carnevale. The streets are filled with people celebrating in traditional masks and costumes at hundreds of events around the city
  • Make sure you take a gondola trip along the canals and to the islands, where you’ll see Venice from a whole different perspective
  • Venice is divided into six districts, all with their own unique charm. Make a trip to each one to get the full Venetian experience
  • Head to San Marco, the tourist centre of the city, where you’ll find St Mark’s Square and see some amazing architecture. Just don’t feed the pigeons!


Getting Around

Treviso Airport is located just 40km outside of the Venice’s centre.  The train is the easiest and quickest way to get to Venice from the airport. Venice Airport is connected to the train station via a taxi service and city buses and regional buses.

What to eat in Venice?

Foodie? You’re in for a treat when you visit Venice. Given its watery location, naturally seafood is a staple of the Venetian diet. Be sure to try the seafood risotto nero with black squid ink as well as fritto misto and marinated sardines, which appear on many menus. Travelling on a budget? Venice’s back-street bacari offer a cheap and authentic alternative to touristy restaurants.
