Ryanair, Europe's largest low fares airline today, (21st June) congratulated Easyjet's founder, Stelios Haji Ioannou on his recent knighthood but warned the travelling public not to be taken in by his flights of fancy which have led him to describe Easyjet as a low fares airline. Peter Sherrard, Ryanair's Head of Communications said; "We congratulate Sir Stelios on his recent knighthood however his talk of low fares and punctuality are of course just the wishful musings of an eccentric knight who has obviously been spending too much time chasing comely maidens and slaying dragons. "Sadly for Sir Stelios, the facts show that Easyjet's fares are 50% higher than Ryanair's and that nearly three in ten of Easyjet's flights are delayed. British passengers who want to fly with a real low fare, on time airline should choose Ryanair and steer clear of the fly by knights!"
