Ryanair offers journalist a €1,000 Carry-on Case Challenge

Ryanair packs two pairs of trousers, two dresses, four tops, two pairs of shoes, a jacket, a laptop and a toilet bag into new approved Samsonite carry-on bag, so why did The Evening Herald claim it would fit just ‘a toothbrush, one change of clothes and a towel’?

Ryanair, the world’s favourite airline, today (26th May) extended Evening Herald journalist, Aoife Anderson, a €1,000 ‘Charity Case’ Challenge. If Aoife can pack more than Ryanair has into its new approved Samsonite bag then Ryanair will donate €1,000 to a charity of her choice. Ryanair set the challenge after Aoife wrongly claimed in the Evening Herald that Ryanair’s new carry-on bag would fit ‘just a toothbrush, one change of clothes and a towel’.

Ryanair has today packed two pairs of trousers, two dresses, four tops, two pairs of shoes, underwear, a jacket, a laptop and a small toiletry bag into its approved carry-on case, which offers more packing space than most other carry-on bags (42litres compared to just 40 litres) and challenges Aoife to see the error of her ways and better this – with a €1,000 charity donation up for grabs.

Ryanair’s Stephen McNamara said,

“Ryanair calls on Evening Herald journalist Aoife Anderson to take up Ryanair’s Charity Case Challenge to pack more than we did into our new, bigger than average, Samsonite carry-on bag and claim €1,000 for charity.

Ryanair and Samsonite are confident that our approved bag will readily fit all that is necessary for a week away, not just Aoife’s weekend away, and still have room for more – unless of course like Aoife you need a Himalayan Sherpa to carry your weekend carry-on case.

Aoife wittily, but wrongly, suggested that passengers would fit only a toothbrush, one change of clothes and a towel into our bag and with her obvious sense of humour we are sure she will now take up our challenge, which will highlight just how wrong she was and win €1,000 for her favourite charity.”
