Ryanair The World’s Cleanest, Greenest Airline Celebrates World Environment Day
PEOPLE WHO CARE – FLY RYANAIR
Ryanair, Europe’s only ultra low cost airline, today (5 June) celebrated World Environment Day with the publication of independent research which confirmed Ryanair is the world’s cleanest, greenest airline as it urged ‘people who care’ to fly Ryanair.
The in-depth
Brighter Planet research report on the world’s 20 largest airlines showed that Ryanair is the most efficient, and with an average fleet age of less than three years any passenger that flies on Ryanair’s low fares ensures that their flight is the greenest, cleanest, flight possible.

Even though aviation accounts for just 1.6% of global greenhouse gas emissions Ryanair has invested billions in new aircraft, which produce 50% less CO2 and deliver a 45% reduction in fuel burn and noise. The Brighter Planet report mirrors the findings of the Dutch Consumer Organisation which in 2007 confirmed Ryanair as Europe’s greenest, cleanest airline.
Ryanair’s Stephen McNamara said:
“While the aviation industry accounts for just 1.6% of global green house gas emissions we are pleased that both the Brighter Planet and The Dutch Consumer Organisation reports have confirmed that Ryanair is the world’s cleanest and greenest airline.
By investing heavily in new aircraft Ryanair has achieved a 50% reduction in CO2 emissions and a 45% reduction in fuel burn and noise so that Ryanair now operates the youngest, quietest, most fuel efficient fleet in the industry. These green credentials match the aspirations of companies with Corporate Social Responsibility guidelines who can ensure that every employee trip is the greenest it can be – by flying Ryanair.
Passengers who care about the environment can now make their contribution by switching from high polluter airlines to Ryanair.”
