Tui UK Agrees to Stop Unauthorised Screenscraping of Ryanair.comRyanair, Europe’s largest low fares airline, today (16 Apr) confirmed that Tui UK Ltd has agreed to stop unauthorised screenscraping of the Ryanair website in settlement of legal proceedings filed against it.
The English High Court approved the Cease and Desist Agreement which was signed by Tui on 26th March after it agreed not to make bookings on Ryanair’s website, which is in breach of Ryanair’s Terms of Use. Tui further agreed that it will not breach any of the Ryanair website’s Terms of Use in the future.
Ryanair welcomed Tui’s decision and confirmed that it is now reviewing legal proceedings against Thomas Cook after it was revealed that these unauthorised screenscraping ticket-touts were charging a fictitious £40 “fuel surcharge” and falsely inflating airfares to consumers buying Ryanair tickets.
Ryanair’s Stephen McNamara said:
“This is another victory for Ryanair and consumers. Ryanair will continue to fight against screenscraper sites who resell Ryanair flights with hidden charges and fictitious fuel surcharges. Ryanair will continue to pursue unlawful and misleading ticket-touts in the courts in the interest of our passengers”.
