Engadine Boarder's Valley

The Engadine is the dream of every snowboarder: perfectly prepared runs, unlimited free-ride areas, a permanent halfpipe, excursions and guided variations available from November through April cater to the boarders' every desire. Our valley of the mountains with St. Moritz at its center retains its fascination with its high and snow covered peaks.

The secret of our resort lies in the way its separate snowboarding areas complement eacht other. Each one of them characterized by the individual attractiveness of the separate mountains. Hiking in Winter?

Sure you can! For once everything is snowed in throughout the Engadine, the valley is shrouded in even deeper peace and quiet. You will become aware of this at the latest, when the creaking sound of the snow at every one of your steps strikes you as loud.

You will find yourself transported to a wintery fairy land across some 94 miles (150 km) of well kept hiking trails.

Take the time to discover the romantically snow covered philosophers' trail up on the plateau of Muottas Muragl. Your hike will be facilitated by markers for orientation which also document the stages of occidental thinking from Socrates to Sartre. Open space, depth of perspective and tranquility are the true luxuries of our time. Here you may indulge yourself to the fullest in the ageless aboundance of these values.

In winter the average temperature lies around -9° C. During the night, temperatures can easily drop below -20° C. However, because of the dry air (57% humidity in February on average), it does not feel much colder than -6° C would in areas where the humidity is higher.
