Bansko is already the winter capital of the Balkans

Bansko was announced the winter capital of the Balkans at the 2008 International Tourism Fair. Offering all season relaxation and entertainment opportunities Bansko has become a worthy place to visit all year long.

Surrounded by Pirin, Rila and the Rhodopi mountains, Bansko is a unique mountain resort and the town is listed as one of UNESCO's World Heritage sites. The winter resort is located just above the town into Pirin Mountain that is of Alpine character. The highest peak is Vihren (2914 m) and the slopes are suitable for all level skiers - from the very beginners to ones who love extreme slopes: 30% Beginners, 45% Advanced and 35% Experts. Two ski centres are state-of-art developed and provided with all utilities for skiing. A few alpine ski discipline and biathlon competitions annually take place.

Since 2008-2009 season Bansko has been hosting ladies' races from the Alpine Skiing World Cup.

Bansko has the best snow record and the longest ski season (15 Dec-15 May) of all Bulgarian ski resorts and it has been developed into a favourite destination with excellent ski facilities:

The two lift stations are best equipped with all sized skis and snowboards - 3500 pairs of ski and more than 670 boards. Bansko is the best place for family skiing as it offers a Nursery and Ski school as well as kids' clubs not only to entertain but also to improve ski abilities over just a couple of days.
