La Thuile

From the end of November to the end of April La Thuile offers an extensive choice of slopes for all difficulty, from numerous and gentle "blue" slopes for beginners to the more challenging and fun varieties of "red" slopes for intermediates, to the most difficult "black" slopes where inclines can reach 78% for expert skiers. Thanks to a particular microclimate and to abundant snowfall slopes are always covered in snow but if that it's not enough there are 300 snow-making machines.

Thanks to the international connection with the French ski station La Rosière , La Thuile has always attracted ski enthusiasts for its big area, in fact with a single lift pass it offers 150 km of slopes connected by 35 lifts with a capacity to transport 45.000 people per hour .

Getting There

  • By Car:
Bordering on both France and Switzerland, the Aosta Valley is situated in the northwestern Italian Alps. La Thuile is located in the most northwestern part of the Aosta Valley and sits on the frontier with France. From June to October, La Thuile is connected to the French region of Savoie by way of state road number 26 and the Piccolo San Bernardo Pass. The rest of the year, the pass becomes a ski run and is closed to car traffic. By car, La Thuile is less than an hour from Chamonix (France) and two hours from Geneva (Switzerland) by way of the Mont Blanc Tunnel. Because of the optimal highway system throughout the Aosta Valley, it is just one hour from Turin, two from Milan, and three from Genoa. Check here the best way to join us.

  • By Train:
La Thuile is easily accessible by train. It's on the Torino-Aosta-Pre Saint Didier. A Direct bus goes links La Thuile from the bottom station line. The updated time tables for all train connections can be found on the Trenitalia site. Frequent busses run the skiiers to and from the ski area.
