Start your day in a small cafe somewhere in the buzzing city, close to the food market where you will find mouthwatering displays of fruits, vegetables and more ... all locally grown and bursting with flavour. From seafood so fresh it’s sometimes still alive, to succulent lamb from the nearby island of Pag – and fruit and vegetables from surrounding farmland – Zadar is able to offer high-calibre dining. It has a Mediterranean climate, after all. As an aperitif, try a glass of the famous Maraschino, a dessert liqueur made from the autochthonous Maraska cherries.Nightlife
On warm evenings, everybody is outside. Promenading the streets is a habit that still linger. Zadar’s nightlife is neither sceney nor divided into old and young, so in most places you’ll find an unpretentious mix of people. While the Old Town is an atmospheric place to spend your evenings, you can also spend time outside the city centre, to catch the sea breeze and watch the sun go down. Young Croatians are a pretty cosmopolitan lot, and you would be surprised how urban the culture is. There are a handful of clubs which offer some decent nights, and a wide choice of bars to suit your tastes.Shopping
The best shopping experience you can have in Zadar is undoubtedly one based around food: at the indoor fish market, and at the food and flower market nearby. As for clothes, especially for international brands hit the shopping malls City Galleria and Supernova. However, Zadar’s best shops are in the Old Town. In this area you’ll find a beautiful little wine stores, hundreds of jewelry stores and little shops where you can buy top quality shoes or luxury bags. Meanwhile, the Museum of Ancient Glass with its gift shop holds the key to some special purchases you can make while in Zadar.Nature & Environment
Zadar Region is unique. No other region in Dalamtia offers so many exciting, diverse and easily accessible visitor experiences; all set a superb, natural, Mediterranean environment. Dramatic coastline, wild beaches, secluded coves, tranquil harbours, spectacular Velebit Mountain at the background. The region is a paradise for nature lovers full filled with stunning grace - an aquatic playground and a land of unspoilt natural beauty. It has to be seen to be believed.
The Zadar Archipelago consists of some 300 islands with beaches that run into crystal clear water. The region is very Mediterranean in nature with olive trees growing on the islands, and farming and fishing being the main means of livelihood. Most of them are serviced by ferries and have hotel accommodations. Some of the more popular islands include Dugi Otok, Ugljan, Pasman, Pag, Premuda, Molat, Silba, Olib, and Kornati National Park.
The Zadar Region is surrounded by five National parks: Paklenica, Kornati, Plitvice lakes, Krka waterfalls and Northern Velebit. In only an hour or two by car or by boat it is possible to reach National parks or nature parks from all the tourist resorts in the region. Telascica (a bay on the island of Dugi otok), lake Vrana (the largest natural lake in Croatia) and the Velebit mountain are nature parks in the Zadar region. UNESCO proclaimed Velebit a world biosphere reserve in 1978. We welcome you!.

There are a lot of opportunities for rafting on the Zrmanja River, trekking around the islands, hiking, free rock climbing in Paklenica National Park, cave exploration, or walking around and visiting restaurants and disco clubs.
Sailing & Diving
Enjoy fine regional harvested food and wine, arts and crafts, fishing and diving or boating right across the Zadar archipelago. Archipelago is a natural aquatic playground: 5 modern marinas; sheltered anchorage. Great diving, great fishing, charter yachts, kayaks and other boats provide for a huge choice of the water experiences.
Thanks to an extremely indented shoreline, over 200 islands and islets, many straits, channels and coves and a suitable climate, the waters of Zadar are a paradise for all sorts of waters activities.
The World's First and Only Sea Organ!
Spring 2005 saw Zadar gain something absolutely unique: the world's first pipe organ that'\'s played by the sea. It's an art installation designed to let people enjoy the point where urban space meets the sea on Zadar\'s new pier for cruisers on the end of the Old Town peninsula. Simple, elegant stone steps have been built on the quayside, perfect for sitting on. Underneath, 35 pipes end in whistles with openings on the quayside above. The movement of the sea pushes air through, and - depending on the size and velocity of the wave - chords are played. The waves create somewhat random but harmonic sounds.As you sit and listen to the ever-changing sounds created by the sea's energy, you can bask in the sun, enjoy one of Zadar's famous sunsets or enjoy the balmy night air. This is proving to be an extremely popular spot for culture and leisure, bringing new life to a new part of the city.
The project's architect was Mr Nikola Baiæ, and a team of experts from Zagreb and the island of Murter engineered the organ itself.
