Cork Airport is 12 Km from Cork City. Bus Eireann provides a service to Cork every 30 minutes from opposite the main terminal entrance. Journey time is approximately 30 minutes; cost is €3.50 one way. Timetables are available from the Airport Information desk. There is a taxi rank outside the airport entrance. A taxi to Cork takes approximately 20 minutes; cost is approximately €15.

One of the most breathtaking counties in Ireland, Cork is steeped in history, tradition and folklore, and boasts a spectacular coastline with golden beaches, colourful coastal villages and vibrant towns. The internationally renowned gourmet town of Kinsale is only 18 miles from the city centre, and the historic medieval castle of Blarney with its "stone of eloquence" can be easily reached from the city, too.

Things to Do

The English Market is located in the heart of Cork City and you will find a variety of shops selling everything from bread, cheeses, poultry, meats, olives and fish. The market has been in existence since 1788 and the elegant 19th century fountain at the centre of the market was made locally by W.R Harris of Great Georges Street and was once the main source of water supply for the traders.

Curaheen Park Greyhound Stadium has racing every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday Nights.

Located in the heart of Cork City, the Crawford Municipal Art Gallery is one of Cork's most important public buildings. Amongst the important Irish Artists in the collection are James Barry, Nathan Grogan, Walter Osborne, Paul Henry, Jack B. Yeats, Harry Clarke and Sean Keating. The Crawford Gallery runs a continuing programme of temporary exhibitions, both of Irish and International art.

Cork City Gaol is located 2km northwest of Patrick Street in Cork City. See how life was inside and outside prison walls in the 19th century. Blarney Castle is located 6 miles North of Cork City. This historic Castle is most famous for its stone, which has the traditional power of conferring eloquence on all who kiss it.
