Cheap flights to Frankfurt, Germany

Why Frankfurt

Frankfurt is Germany’s financial and business centre, which means it’s a slick, chic and super modern city with a futuristic skyscraper skyline… but Frankfurt has a wonderful and carefully reconstructed historical Old Town too, and it protects its history and traditions fiercely.

Book cheap flights to Frankfurt and discover a city of complimentary contrasts, and a place that thoroughly embraces the concept of ‘work hard, play hard’.

When to book flights to Frankfurt

For good weather, long days and nice temperatures, you should fly to Frankfurt between April and September. If you don’t mind sacrificing a few degrees of warmth for feeling like you have the city more to yourself, March and October are still beautiful times to book cheap Frankfurt flights. You’ll still be able to sit outside bars and restaurants, albeit with the help of some thick wool blankets provided by the establishment!

Winter in Frankfurt is definitely cold but it’s never unbearable - and in December, Frankfurt hosts one of Germany’s biggest Christmas Markets, which is a major reason  to book Frankfurt flights in December! Need a place to stay when you visit Frankfurt?  Search Ryanair Rooms for great value deals on hotels, apartments and places to stay in Frankfurt.

What to see in Frankfurt

There’s loads to see, do and experience when you fly to Frankfurt, and a great place to start your exploration is with a visit to the Römerberg, the main square in Frankfurt’s Old Town. This is people-watching heaven, and a charming way to get acquainted with the city. It’s been beautifully and carefully restored, making it an atmospheric place to grab a coffee and take in your surroundings.

Some other particularly popular sights and attractions you might want to see when you book Frankfurt cheap flights include the famous Staedel Museum and all of the incredible art it houses, the Palmengarten, the bustling Kleinmarkthalle, the Romer (city hall), the German Film Museum, the Domturm and its Observation Platform, and – for an unparalleled view of Frankfurt’s famous cityscape, the Eiserner Steg footbridge. The Old Town is a pleasure to wander and explore, but if you fly to Frankfurt, don’t miss the flashier side of town too where you’ll find superb shopping and dining, and excellent upscale bars for cocktail-filled evenings.

There are lots of excellent neighbourhoods to choose from when you’re picking your Frankfurt Hotel, but it’s worth remembering that most of the city’s sights and attractions are fairly concentrated in one area, the Innenstadt (downtown) and the Altstadt, so this is a good place to start when you’re choosing accommodation in Frankfurt.

Getting around

The easiest and cheapest way to get around Frankfurt is the U-Bahn (both underground and overground), the tram, and the bus. If you’re going outside the main city centre you can use the S-Bahn but you might not need to use this at all during your Frankfurt break.

Getting from place to place in the city centre is easily done on foot or by bike too, and there are always plenty of taxis around too, should you need them. Prefer the freedom of your own set of wheels? Book your rental car with Ryanair car hire and your car will be ready and waiting for you when you land at Frankfurt Airport.

What to eat in Frankfurt

Ok, you need to stay with us here, because we’re going to advise you to eat a typical Frankfurt dish called ‘Green Sauce’ which comes served with hard boiled eggs and boiled potatoes. It sounds odd, but this creamy blend of seven different herbs with the simple flavours of egg and potatoes is actually very good, and as true a taste of Frankfurt as you can get!

Of course it would be rude to fly to Frankfurt without sampling some frankfurters, and the city’s eponymous sausages are easy to find at stalls and on menus all over the city.  Book flights to Frankfurt with Ryanair and  get a taste of the city for yourself!
