Tangier Airport is 11km outside Tangier and 250km from Rabat. You can get there driving by coast road 416. The nearest Hotel is located 3km from the airport.

Airport Facilities

There are a number of restaurants available to passengers within the airport. Bank (Bureau De Change) and Post office services are available from Monday - Friday between the hours of 08:30am - 16:30pm.

Transportation

Taxi or car rental is the only available transport. The journey to the city takes around 20mins. You can only take the "grand taxis" due to the one's in the city can't take you to the airport.

Tangier’s highlights

The kasbah is Tangier’s heart and soul, an imposing fortress with walls and ramparts overlooking the whole city and Medina. It is accessed from the Grand Socco via Italy street and uphill via rue de la Kasbah. This is a district of ancient palaces, accommodating some truly luxs residences. The Palace of the Sultan "Dar el Mekhzen", located in Place de la Kasbah, represent a museum of Moroccan authentic arts, while the adjacent palace, Dar Chorfa, houses the museum of antiquities and archeology. You can enjoy a coffee break at the “Café du Detroit”, which takes its name from the magnificent views it has on its terrace

The circuit of artists

The streets of Tangier are teeming with artistic and literary memories. Countless painters, poets, actors, designers of all nationalities have spent time in Tangier making it their homeland since they were all inspired by the city’s magic. All of them have left their footprint that make well known institutions became mythic. After Eugene Delacroix, Henri Matisse and Oscar Wilde, many designers and creators are still attracted and inspired by Tangier.

Between two seas

Once in Tangier, do not miss especially two capes symbolizing the town’s entrance: Cape Spartel on the Atlantic side and Cape Malabata on the Mediterranean one. The latter is oriented towards the rising sun. Planted with pine trees, it overlooks the Strait of Gibraltar and it deserves a visit during the morning for a better light. Not far away is located the strange castle Malabata symbolizing the medieval architecture while it has been built by the beginning of the century. Cape Spartel, with a lighthouse built in 1965, is ideal for sunsets.

Caves of Hercules: The light from the Atlantic

Located on Cape Spartel, off the Atlantic coast, Caves of Hercules are natural limestone formations caves. Dark, damp, they are illuminated by a single pass overlooking the ocean, where the contours of a map of Africa are drawn. According to Greek mythology, it was here that Hercules found rest after completing his 12 labors. The legend claims that he dug in the Strait of Gibraltar separating the mountains and conjuring up one side of the Jebel Tarik and the other, Jbel Moussa.
