Edinburgh Airport is located 4 Km from Edinburgh. Buses to Edinburgh, operated by "Lothian Buses" leave from outside the domestic arrivals entrance. The bus journey takes approximately. 25 minutes and will cost £3 one way/£5 return. There is a taxi rank outside the domestic arrivals entrance. Taxis to Edinburgh will take approximately 20minutes.

Edinburgh Castle

This most famous of Scottish castles has a complex building history. The oldest part, St Margaret's Chapel, dates from the 12th century; the Great Hall was erected by James IV around 1510; the Half Moon Battery by the Regent Morton in the late 16th century; and the Scottish National War Memorial after the First World War. The castle houses the Honours (Crown Jewels) of Scotland, the Stone of Destiny, the famous 15th century gun Mons Meg, the One O' Clock Gun and the National War Museum of Scotland.

Royal Mile/Palace of Holyrood House

One of the oldest streets in the city, the Royal Mile provides a straight but sloping connection between Edinburgh Castle and the Palace of Holyrood House. The Palace of Holyrood House, the official residence in Scotland of Her Majesty The Queen, stands at the end of Edinburgh's Royal Mile, against the spectacular backdrop of Arthur's Seat. This fine baroque palace is closely associated with Scotland's rich history.

Ghost Tours

Scotland has a mysterious quality which sends shivers up the spine - and nowhere is this more potent than in the City of Edinburgh. Edinburgh: The Festival City

As home to the world's longest running arts festival and venue for the MTV Europe Music awards in November 2003, Edinburgh has an international reputation for a truly eclectic calendar of events and festivals. The city is constantly buzzing with one celebration or another. The month of August sees Edinburgh host its International, Fringe, Film, Book, Jazz and "Mela" festivals. For Scottish culture, the Edinburgh Military Tattoo is a sell-out spectacular. Edinburgh also hosts its own Winter Festival with, its main event being Edinburgh's Hogmanay - an enormous street party on New Year's Eve held beneath the grandeur of Edinburgh Castle.

New Parliament Building

At the foot of Edinburgh's historic Royal Mile, the site at Holyrood was chosen as the permanent home for the Scottish Parliament. The Queen formally opened the new Parliament on Saturday 9th October 2004. The new Parliament Building Information Centre is now open in the Tun on Holyrood Road. Open daily from 10.00am to 4.00pm. The Centre contains models, plans and images of the new building, samples of internal and external finishes, video and touchscreens.
