Grand Tourmalet: the largest ski area of the French Pyrenees dominated by the Pic du Midi
At the foot of the Pic du Midi de Bigorre the Grand Tourmalet ski resort has the largest ski area in the French Pyrenees.
On the Bareges side the ambience is of a typical Pyrenean village reigns, on the La Mongie side you will find all the services of a 'foot of the slopes' resort in a high mountain setting.

Skiing in the Grand Tourmalet
The Grand Tourmalet has the largest Pyrenean ski area with 100 kms (about 63 miles) of pisted runs, the 3 high speed 6 seater lifts and the 32 kms (about 20 miles) of other lifts allow a rapid access to all areas and open to all.
The setting is simply magnificent beneath the towering Pic du Midi de Bigorre. The many off-piste possibilities from the Pic du Midi are not to be missed!
If you practice snowboard, let's go to the freestyle Park with big air, boardercross, tables and modules. And for skiing fanatics La Mongie has a night-lit track for nocturnal skiing

Accommodation is available at the foot of the slopes on the La Mongie side and in the village of Barèges on the other side. In the valley are hotels, tourist residences, apartments, bed-and-breakfast, holiday centre and snow caravanning sites

The resort overview
In this resort you have numerous activities: snowbikes, dog-sleigh, paragliding... And nearby for adventurous: a secured adventure trek, Via Ferrata... In the Valley, at Bagnères-de-Bigorre are a casino and a golf course.
It is also very easy for families with children spaces at the foot of the ski runs, a kindergarden for children from 18 months to 12 years old and the "Mini club ESF" proposed by the French skiing school, for those from 3 years old, subscribe for a day or half a day.

To the side of La Mongie:
From Lourdes Pyrenees airport: About 1h drive
Take N21 towards Tarbes. In Tarbes, continue towards Bagnères-de-Bigorre on D935.
After Bagnères-de-Bigorre continue towards Ste Marie de Campan and then take D918 towards La Mongie
To the side of Barèges:
From Lourdes Pyrenes airport: About 55mns drive
Take N21 towards Lourdes. In Lourdes, continue towards Argelès-Gazost on D821.
Then continue towards Luz-St-Sauveur/Gavarnie on D913 and D921.
In Luz St Sauveur take D918 towards Barèges.
