Nimes Airport is located 12 Km from Nimes city centre. There is a local bus service that runs between the airport and Nimes with a journey time of 20 minutes.

THE PONT DU GARD

This Bridge, a spectacular heritage feature of the Roman world across the Gardon River, is one of the most spectacular masterpieces dating from the 1st century AD. The Roman engineers designed this aqueduct, which stands almost 50 m high and a stone bridge measuring 273 m long and 43m high. Named after the Gardon River, the bridge was originally erected to supply Nîmes with water from the Eure spring in Uzès.

NIMES

Nîmes is an amazing town with a glorious past and many splendid Roman monuments :

• The Arènes, the best preserved Roman amphitheatre in the world
• The Maison Carrée, a main temple dedicated to the son and grandson of Emperor Augustus

Nîmes has also a penchant for contemporary architecture with Carré d'Art designed by Sir Norman Foster. Each year, Nîmes Feria is the biggest town party of the region with bullfights in the arena and music in all the city.

CAMARGUE

St Gilles, Les Saintes Maries de la Mer, Arles are the main places of the Camargue with its Provencal traditions. It's a natural wild and beautiful landscape with many particular aeras to observe very close bulls, horses, pink flamingos...

THE COAST

The coast with le Grau du Roi fishing port, Port Camargue the main European yachting harbour, and Aigues Mortes a medieval fortified town, offers lots of leisure activities : water sport, diving, thalassotherapy, casino and kite surfing. Eighteen kilometres long of fine sand beaches to enjoy.

THE CEVENNES

A paradise for walkers and nature lovers. In the north-east of the Gard, there are landscapes of sheer grandeur. Part is national park where all the buildings are a model of perfect landscape integration : little bridges, chapels, terracing. You can practise all nature sports: walking, horseback riding, mountain biking, fishing.
