Enjoy Rijeka’s museums and cultural events plus sightseeing in and around the city, 22 sandy beaches on the island of Rab, the vineyards of Vrbnik on the island of Krk, the Eco Centre Caput Insulae with its vulture conservation programme on the island of Cres, churches and temples some dating back to Medieval times. Consider also Rijeka’s 1.7 kilometre long Molo Longo Pier, the Risnjak National Park, the 12 km long Lungo Mare seafront promenade on the Opatija Riviera and the museum of Apoxiomen in Veli Losinj – his antique bronze statue of him was found in these waters.

The best scampi in Croatia come from our Kvarner Bay and are really huge langoustines not the breaded type found elsewhere. Risottos and seafood pasta, daily fresh fish, fruits, vegetable and salads (much of it organic) and some of the best wild asparagus in the country. Local olive oil, air dried ham, cherry and chestnut specialities not forgetting the famous Zlahtina white wine and our liqueurs. The distinct cuisine of the Gorski Kotar region is not to be missed featuring rich stews and wild mushrooms.

Enjoy the diverse nightlife of Rijeka for which the city is well known. From classical concerts at Trsat castle or on Rijeka’s waterfront and in other resorts to fishermen’s nights open-air celebrations, there’s something for everyone. Cool cocktail bars in Opatija or on Medveja beach are a must. Remember that Rijeka rocks all year round.
