Web Designer

Location: Dublin

Ryanair is the World's favourite airline and operates more than 1,500 flights per day from 50 bases and 1,400 low fare routes across 28 countries, connecting over 165 destinations. Ryanair operates a fleet of 286 new Boeing 737-800 aircraft with firm orders for a further 25 new aircraft (before taking account of planned disposals), which will be delivered over the next year. Regulated by the Irish Aviation Authority, Ryanair currently has a team of more than 8,500 people and expects to carry 75 million passengers in the current fiscal year.

The successful candidate will be energetic and committed, able to work well from his/her own initiative while being an integral part of our team.

This person will play a very important role in the web team and will be responsible for driving design and UX on Ryanair.com. They must have strong knowledge of current web trends and best practices and must be well versed in web 2.0 and HTML 5. They must have a keen eye for detail and they must process very strong CSS/HTML skills while still having an understanding of PHP. They will work closely with the rest of the web team to deliver the overall development program of Ryanair.com. They will play an integral part in the optimisation of customer journey in order to maximise monetisation of Ryanair.com.

The successful candidate will also play the lead role in ensuring that Ryanair.com is developed with best practice SEO and they will be responsible for all reporting on SEO ranking.

Duties Include:

  • Create design prototypes, including graphic design, site navigation, and layout of content
  • Coordinating with programmers for specialized scripts
  • Working on day to day content updates on Ryanair.com
  • Lead role on implementing Ryanair's SEO strategy
  • Hands on SEO/SEM experience
  • Driver of best practice design methods that deliver optimised user experience
  • Making key changes to Ryanair.com on a regular basis
  • Looking at key areas to improve and optimize Ryanair.com
  • Forward development of Ryanair.com
  • Create visual concepts that match Ryanair's image

Experience and Qualifications:

  • XHTML, PHP, Ajax, Javascript, SQL, CSS, XML
  • Excellent understanding of HTML4/5, CSS3 and W3C validation
  • Practical experience in graphics creation with Photoshop, Illustrator, (Adobe Creative Suite), multimedia creation with Flash, ActionScript, (Macromedia Studio) and graphic optimisation
  • Practical exposure and/or experience with some or all of the following: PHP, MYSQl, IIS, Windows Server environments.
  • Knowledge and demonstrated experience with cross-browser and cross-platform issues (IE, Firefox, Safari, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of object oriented Javascript and jQuery
  • Strong knowledge of SEO practices, Site Architecture, Internal/External Linking
  • Strong knowledge of Search Engine Optimisation coding techniques and trends
  • Excellent team working and communication skills
  • Strong general web knowledge and versed in latest web trends
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Desire and willingness to work in a collaborative, innovative, flexible and team-oriented environment.
Ideal Background:
  • An IT Graduate with at least 2-3 years experience
