Lille Airport is situated in the centre of a very dense motorway network: the A1 Paris-Lille, the A25 Dunkerque-Lille, the A23 Valenciennes-Lille, the A22 Gand-Lille etc. This location makes it very easy to get to and from the airport. Apart from its proximity to Belgium and the towns of the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region, the airport is only 15 minutes from the centre of Lille or 12km South of the city and its Railway stations,the Lille airport shuttle links the airport to those stations.

Facilities include restaurant, bar, cash dispenser, car hire, taxis, disabled facilities, duty free, information desk, check in, tour operators, post office, left luggage, damaged baggage and tourist information. There is also an air terminal car park, and a free distant car park. There are disabled car parking spaces in the air terminal car park, just near the entry of the terminal (10 places available).

The Lille area has dozens of museums, including 3 ranked among the best in France. In Lille, Rubens, Delacroix and Monet sublimate the huge Museum of Fine Arts, housed in a 19th-century palace. In Villeneuve d’Ascq, the LaM museum is the only one in Europe that shows modern art, contemporary art and Art Brut (outsider art) under the same roof. Roubaix’s hidden gem “La Piscine” is indisputably the most unusual one: former Art Deco public baths act as a background to art, fashion and design collections!

Events in Lille

Every first weekend in September, Lille is home to "La Braderie", the biggest flea market in Europe! Preceded by a half-marathon, the flea market officially opens at 2 pm on Saturday and carries on until 11 pm on Sunday. The city is transformed into a huge pedestrian zone where 10,000 traders, second-hand sellers and especially “Bradeux” (non-professional sellers) gather in a festive atmosphere. All of the city’s restaurants sell mussels and chips, and participate in an unofficial competition to see which one is able to build the highest pile of empty mussels shells: it’s quite a sight!

Lille is a mecca for shopaholics! The city has 3,900 shops, and each district has its own special features. Luxury boutiques in Vieux Lille, department stores and high-street names in the city centre, a huge hypermarket in the Euralille shopping mall and bazaars in the multi-ethnic Wazemmes area. Just a few miles away from Lille, Roubaix is known as the “capital of bargains”, with two factory outlet centres. It also develops a fashion district (near the “La Piscine” museum), dedicated to young fashion designers.
