SETE, THE LITTLE VENICE OF LANGUEDOC

Between the Mediterranean Sea and the Thau Lagoon, famous for its oyster beds, Sete, so called "the little Venice of the Languedoc", lays like a pearl and its fishing port, situated in the heart of the city, adds to the traditional atmosphere. The town's local summer festivals are a very important part of its cultural identity : experience its famous 'Fiesta Latina Festival' and come to the 'Feast of St. Louis', also commonly called 'Les joutes de Sete', a nautical jousting tournament, real show of combats in the water.

BEZIERS AND THE CANAL DU MIDI : GRACE AND BEAUTY

Be seduced by Beziers and the Canal du Midi that, initiated by Riquet in 1666 and built by up to 12,000 men, lives on to this day crossing rivers, tunnelling through hills, irrigated from the mysterious Montagne Noire with grace and beauty. Stretching from Toulouse to the Etang de Thau (close to Ste), its waters glide along 240 kilometers through the heart of Languedoc. It offers a journey out of time, one that many river sailors choose to take on board of comfortable, silent riverboats (rent your 'floating house'! No licence is required).

BEZIERS AND THE CANAL DU MIDI

A COOL AND FRUITY STROLL AROUND THE VINEYARDS OF THE HERAULT

From Roman times, the land of the Herault, dedicated to the sun like an amphitheatre, has given a dimension of timelessness to its vineyards. Here, rich and varied wines are produced and take the place of honour on the table of the great gourmets. Cool and fruity, the wine of the Languedoc is the symbol of the mediterranean conviviality. Set off towards the cellars of the Coteaux du Languedoc and Vins du Pays d'Oc that offer delightful wines (Faugeres, Minervois, St Chinian, Pic St Loup) : the tasting may take on an allure of a ceremonial gathering or the tone of a friendly get-together..
