Valladolid Airport is 15 Km from the city of Valladolid. Linecar operates a bus service to the city centre leaving from outside Arrivals. Journey time is 20 minutes and cost is €3.00 one way and €5.00 return. Taxis to the city cost approximately €18.00 and journey time is 20 minutes.

Holy Week

Valladolid’s Holy Week processions, which have been declared an event of International Tourist Interest, continue to be one of our city’s main cultural and tourism attractions.

Thousands of people visit our city during Holy Week, attracted by the celebration’s fame and by the opportunity to see sculptures, which are normally displayed in our museums, churches and convents during the rest of the year, being paraded through the streets. These works were created by such masters of religious art as Gregorio Fernández, Juan de Juni, Francisco Rincón, De la Cuadra, Juan de Avila and others.

The processions, which take place throughout the city, are held almost continuously from Palm Sunday morning until Easter Sunday morning.

The Cathedral

In the 16th century Juan de Herrera, the architect of El Escorial Monastery, was commissioned by Philip II to build the city’s cathedral. His magnificent project was never completed due to lack of funds and the building’s construction was continued much later by the Baroque architect Churriguera. The cathedral still retains elements of Herrara’s original design, including the two-level Doric order main facade, although the upper level was modified by Churriguera, and the transept facade, which was built according to the original plans. The interior maintains the sobriety, grandeur and simplicity of volumes typical of Herrera’s works. While visitors will find touring the chapels interesting, the highlight of the cathedral is the altarpiece in the choir by Juan de Juni, an incredibly dynamic work that displays striking realism.

The Church of Santa María la Antigua, founded by Count Ansúrez, stands to the north of the cathedral and still retains a beautiful tower and portico from the Romanesque era (13th century). It was rebuilt in the Gothic style in the 14th century.

The 6th National Pinchos and Tapas Competition - Valladolid

This contest, open to professionals in the catering industry from throughout Spain, will also provide the backdrop for the Asamblea de la Tapa (Tapas Conference).
The Valladolid National Pinchos and Tapas Competition returns to its place of origin – visitors can watch the entire selection process in a single place, Paseo de Recoletos in Valladolid, the capital of Castilla y León. This avenue is in the centre of the city, just 300 m from the AVE (high-speed train) station.
On 8-10 November, the competition will once again transform Valladolid into the world tapas capital – for two days and nights, the city’s bars and restaurants will offer culinary creations from all of Spain’s regions.

The Miguel Delibes Cultural Centre

The Miguel Delibes Cultural Centre is a cultural building in Valladolid, in the Autonomous Community of Castilla y León, Spain. Designed by architect Ricardo Bofill Levi, the centre opened in March 2007. It is located in the Villa del Prado quarter, between the José Zorrilla New Municipal Stadium and the Regional Assembly of Castilla y León.
The centre was named after Miguel Delibes, a writer from Valladolid. It is the home of the Castilla y León Symphony Orchestra, the city’s Professional Conservatory of Music, the School of Drama, and the Professional School of Dance and Experimental Theatre, and has a Chamber Music Hall and an Auditorium.
The centre also features a library, exhibition room, auditorium (which accommodates 1,700 spectators), a chamber music hall (which accommodates 500 spectators) and an experimental theatre hall.

The Colegio San Gregorio National Museum

The Colegio San Gregorio National Museum is one of the most interesting museums in Spain, and even Europe, as it combines an exceptional setting (the complex is located in the city’s most important historical area, built in the 15th and 16th centuries) with an extraordinary collection of sculpture. The oldest pieces in the museum's collection are Gothic works from as early as the 13th century. The holdings include various series of sculptures of the Virgin Mary and Crucifixes, created by such masters as Alonso Berruguete, Juan de Juni and Gregorio Fernandez.

The museum also houses important altarpieces. These include works dating from as early as the 15th century, like the famous altarpiece from the Mejorada de Olmedo Monastery attributed to Jorge Ingles.

While dedicated to its role as a public exhibition area, the museum is also committed to researching, conserving and restoring the artworks it holds and to promoting public awareness.
