Once you’ve checked in:

What to expect on arrival in Tenerife:

Tenerife is wonderfully predictable in some ways, so you can be sure you’ll be treated to all the beautiful beaches and sunshine you were dreaming about when you booked your cheap flights from Cardiff to Tenerife – but first, you’ll need to get to your accommodation.

If you haven’t booked a place to stay yet, take a look at Ryanair Rooms to get the best rates on hotels all over the island, as well as credit back to put towards your next flight. Whether you prefer busy tourist strips or quiet little villages, you’ll find the Tenerife accommodation that’s right for you– just choose your perfect place in paradise!

Tenerife (South) airport is a busy one, handling some 10,000,000 passengers every year, so it has plenty of transport in place for all those arrivals. Tenerife’s public bus service, the TITSA, links the airport with towns, villages and resorts all over the island, and it’s a great way to get around. If you’re travelling with family or have a lot of luggage however, you might prefer to book private airport transfer, which you can do online – or hire a car. Car rental is popular in Tenerife  with people who like to explore at their own pace… and with air conditioning.

Tenerife really is worth exploring well – it’s an incredible island, with much more to do than simply laying in its sunshine (though that is pretty great too). Bring your outdoor gear and hike Mount Teide; head to the capital Santa Cruz to see local life; play a round of golf in the sun; dance until dawn in the clubs of Playa de las Americas; SCUBA dive in the island’s pristine waters… whatever you want from Tenerife, Tenerife has it in store for you!

Five fun facts about Tenerife:

  • In Tenerife, Tuesday the 13th is unlucky. Friday the 13th is just fine.
  • Tenerife’s patron saint is the same as Scotland’s, and so it its flag. That’s where the similarities end.

  • The yellow canary bird was named after the islands, though many people think it was the other way around.
