What to see in Mykonos

There’s the obvious nightlife that has earned the island the nickname of the ‘Greek Ibiza’, but apart from that there are plenty of things to see and do. Probably the most photographed landmark on the island are the windmills in Chora. For centuries they were used to refine grain, but these days you’re most likely to find them popping up in pretty sunset shots on  Instagram.

With the savings you’ve made on your cheap flights to  Mykonos you can afford to explore beautiful and interesting neighbourhoods such as Little Venice. This small, colourful  neighbourhood is filled with houses that have been converted into bars and restaurants.

For a day-trip with a difference, head to Delos. It’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is considered one of the most important archaeological sites in Greece. Legend has it that it was the birthplace of Artemis and Apollo. Get there by taking one of the many boats that depart from Mykonos harbour.

Don’t fly to Mykonos without trying a gyro. Mykonos has food specialties of its own that you should definitely try as well.
