What to see in Verona

Piazza delle Erbe is the centre of Verona’s historic centre. Here you’ll find some of the city’s finest architecture, including Torre dei Lamberti, the Town Hall, the Palazzo Maffei and the delicate designs of the frescoed walls of the Mazzanti houses. Just a short walk from Piazza delle Erbe lies Juliet’s balcony which is one of the most popular attractions for visitors who fly to Verona.

Verona Arena plays host to performances during the summer opera  season – book tickets in advance to avoid disappointment. Head for heights? You can get an incredible panoramic view of the city from Castel San Pietro. Meanwhile, Lake Garda is just a short distance away if you want to relax by the water or try out the rollercoasters of Gardaland.

Getting around

What to eat in Verona

Similar in shape to spaghetti but thicker, you’ll find it commonly served with salted sardines and onions. Gnocchi is also popular in the region.
