What to see in Vienna

Built in the 1600s, Schönbrunn Palace is one of Vienna’s main tourist draws. This vast 1,441 room palace was home to the Habsurg Monarchy and was the birthplace of several Austrian emperors. The Schönbrunn Gardens belong to the palace’s complex and are worth visiting in their own right.

For a short-cut to the city’s major sights, take the yellow Vienna Ringtram from Schwedenplatz to enjoy a 25-minute trip around the city with a running commentary.  Head for heights? St. Stephen’s Cathedral offers a panoramic view of the city from the  viewing platform which sits at the top of 343 steps. There’s a lift available if the climb seems too daunting.
