Why Luxembourg City

Luxembourg is a wonderful city, and a fantastic destination for a mini break that’s a little bit city but a little bit rural too. It’s one of the safest, cleanest cities in the world, with a quality of living that consistently ranks among the best in the word. It’s a place for foodies, history buffs, hikers and culture vultures, and it’s the perfect size for a few days’ worth of exploration.  Fly to Luxembourg with Ryanair and discover this wonderful, cultural, vibrant city for yourself.

When to book flights to Luxembourg

Luxembourg doesn’t experience extreme temperatures, so you can book flights to Luxembourg city at any time of year and you won’t encounter any particularly hostile weather. It’s worth noting, though, that there are certain services and attractions that only open during the summer months (high season) in the Ardennes. Within Luxembourg city hotels and attractions will stay open all year, so fly to Luxembourg city whenever you like.

As with many destinations, Luxembourg is at its best in the warmer, brighter months either side of summer’s busiest weeks in July and August. It might be easier to find cheap Luxembourg flights and better value accommodation at this time of year too, when the city is less crowded. Search Ryanair Rooms for great value deals on hotels and places to stay in Luxembourg.

What to see in Luxembourg

Book flights to Luxembourg city and you’ll find a destination that’s small, but perfectly formed, with everything you could possibly want from a mini-break – the old town is a UNESCO world heritage site, it has an underground art gallery, plus there are four Michelin starred restaurants in this one small city.

Probably the most unmissable attraction in the city is the Chemin de la Corniche, also referred to as ‘Europe’s most Beautiful Balcony”. This is the place to go for unparalleled views over Luxembourg city. The Bock Cliff is a fascinating part of the city to see, with cannons and fortifications as well as the Casemates to explore – a series of underground tunnels that were used to hide solders and stockpile equipment.

Luxembourg is the perfect base from which to explore the beautiful countryside outside the city. Book a hotel in the city – there is a great selection of high quality and great value rooms available on Ryanair Rooms - but make your way out to Vianden, Berdorf, Echternach, Upper-Sure Lake, or Little Switzerland.

Vianden is a particularly beautiful little spot with a stunning old hilltop castle to explore, and at just under an hours’ drive away from the city, it’s well worth seeing when you book cheap Luxembourg flights.  If you want more outdoor adventure, the Mullerthal region – aka ‘Little Switzerland’ - is a beautiful and idyllic little corner of Luxembourg full of rolling hills and long hikes trough forests and fields.

If you plan on travelling further afield and want to escape the city to discover the rest of Luxemburg, car hire is a good idea. Driving in Luxembourg isn’t difficult and the roads are in good condition and well-marked and signposted.
