Why should I fly to Prague?
Prague is a hub of cutting edge music and art, culture and history. The centre piece of the city, the hilltop castle, looks like it’s come straight from a movie set, while the grand bridges and picture-perfect cobbled streets of the old town make Prague one of the most beautiful cities you're likely to see. The nightlife can be relaxed or non-stop, whichever you prefer, and the winding streets are full of cool coffee shops. Book flights to Prague and start to understand why its gothic cathedrals and church spires not only make this an icon of Bohemia but also one of the most popular destinations in Europe.

What do the locals recommend?

"People say Prague is the Paris of the East, but I think it’s more impressive than that. I like the little quirks which really sum up the character of the city, like the dancing building, with its slinky exterior. It's one of the world's weirdest buildings. Or the house of mirrors on top of the hill. There's also the huge astronomical clock, which is the oldest working clock in the world. Every hour you can it chimes with a variety of characters including death, avarice and vanity! The show ends with a real life trumpeter on top of the clock tower!" Nela, Prague

What should I pack?

Light clothing that can be layered is always a good idea. You'll do a lot of walking, because it's the best way to see the city, so bear in mind a lot of the streets are cobbled and will punish flimsy shoes. Prague is famous for its lively nightlife, so bring your glad rags. You'll also need a power adapter (the two pin plug kind) to charge your phone so you don’t miss out on those all- important selfie opportunities!

What's the food like?

Try a pint of the local brew in one of the bars close to Charles Bridge. Beer is a part of life here; Gambrinus is popular while it's also the home of Staropramen. Expect tasty, hearty cuisine, featuring pork or chicken with potato or dumplings. For the best value, head to the smaller restaurants and cafés located on side streets off the main square. Eating on the go? Try street food from the vendors in the Old Town.

How do I get around?

Although taxis are available from outside the airport, the airport express bus takes only 30 minutes and is very reasonably priced. Prague has a good public transport network, you can transfer between the underground, buses and trams all across the city with the same ticket. Tickets are sold based on journey duration, not destination. Don’t forget to get your tickets stamped in the machine to avoid trouble with inspectors.
