Opened by a group of friends with a passion for home-brewed beer, this place is one of the best multitap bars in the city. Offering a wide selection from both the 13 taps and various bottles, beer enthusiasts will be spoilt for choice here. The beers are sourced locally and from small Polish craft breweries as well as worldwide, to create the ultimate tasting experience. Located right in the centre of the city in the Old Town Square, this is the ideal place to settle in for a drink after a long day of sight-seeing. Boasting a wide variety of drinks from specialty brews to shots and cocktails, this bar will pretty much serve you anything you want. Decked out in green, grey and blue, exposed brick, wooden counter tops, big square tables and white chairs, the pub oozes a relaxed, inviting atmosphere. Known in English as Ministry of Herring and Vodka, this next watering hole is part of a chain that has locations throughout the country. In Bydgoszcz, the bar is ideally located in the main square just across from the Town Hall. Taking on an old school retro vibe, the interior of this place is the real selling point with vintage LP covers from Communist times lining the walls and music from the 80s wafting through the air. Sit down and taste the local favourite, the herring dishes, washed down with a shot or two of ice cold vodka. A truly authentic experience, this is a must when visiting the city.

A well-liked local spot, Prolog9 serves a wide variety of Polish beers and keeps its doors open seven days a week. The cellar bar operates 12 taps and has an added bonus of a great garden for when the sun is shining. Renowned for its tendency to push the boundaries in the beer community, the hard rock bar is the place to go if you fancy trying something new.

Open since 2004, the pirate-themed bar is one of the liveliest places in the city once the sun has gone down. Cheap and cheerful, start of the night here and with notoriously long opening hours, return later for a nightcap before you hit the hay. Choose from a wide selection of drinks and nibble on some bar snacks including herring and zurek. Take a step back in time at this socialist themed bar in Bydgoszcz’s main square. A throwback to the USSR Communist era in the city, the pub gets its name from the former name of the country, Polska Rzeczpospolita Ludowa and boasts a quirky décor unlike anything else. Sip beer amongst old gramophones, pictures, typewriters and televisions. A unique experience, this is definitely one to add to the list of the best bars in Bydgoszcz. 

8. Pub Jack – ul. Dluga 65

The oldest pub in Bydgoszcz, this place was previously known as The Kings Head and is a popular hangout amongst the student population of the city. Imagine ridiculously cheap drinks, an electric atmosphere and shabby chic dance floor and you’ve pretty much got the picture. Visit the terrace for spectacular views over the city and sink in to one of the many sofas with a beer and a slice of pizza that won’t cost you more than two euro.
