Date Night: Fine Dining in Belgium

It’s your anniversary, your husband’s birthday, the celebration of her new job, or just any other reason to say I love you.  What do you do? Sure, you can book the standard night out but what if you could step it up a notch…tell him how much he means to you or tell her that she really is that special -

My husband and I have set out to explore Europe’s most exciting cities and hidden treasures to give you a tried and tested date night itinerary.

2-Star Michelin Heaven

Nestled in the small town of Roeselare, Belgium in a stately red-bricked manor stands Restaurant Boury, a paradise for gastronomic foodies.

Whether you arrive by day or are led to the restaurant’s entrance by the surrounding twinkle of fairy-lights at night, there is electricity in the air, reminding you that something special is coming…

Where to Eat:

Enter the renovated mansion of Boury Restaurant and receive an immediate embrace by the attentive and friendly staff who strive to make the service as exquisite as the food they are about to serve.

A lovely garden lulls you to the back of the property where an open-air bar awaits.  Whether you’re enjoying sunny weather during the warmer months or sipping your aperitif (try Boury’s homemade infused gin) by the always-alit fire pit, the setting is magical and strikes a tone for the romantic evening to follow.

“Tasting top products in a relaxing atmosphere, that’s the essence,” – Tim

And tasting top of the line is guaranteed. The restaurant serves honest food to please even the most refined pallets. Boury restaurant opened in 2010 and received their first Michelin star in 2011.

As of 2017 they were awarded their second well-deserved star and the future is bright on the road for a third.

With a wine pairing that really brought out the flavours in all of their dishes, we were treated to an eight-course meal of one exquisite dish after the next, including North Sea Sole, Watercress, Tajine Pumpkin, King Crab, and Saddle of Hare -just to name a few.

Where to Stay:

Luckily, after your extraordinary meal, you won’t have to venture far to lay your head in luxury.

Just above the restaurant are four stunning rooms for those special guests who book ahead and desire a truly spectacular night.  Caspium by Boury is the manor’s 5-star accommodations and should not be missed.

Let the gourmet dining continue as breakfast is prepared for you and brought to your room the next morning.

The town of Roeselare isn’t without its own merit.  While you’re in the area, check out the following must-see spots:

Sip award winning Belgium beers at the Rodenbach Brewery.

Take in a different type of art using light and landscape at the Muze’um L.

Check out Rumbeke Castle, one of the oldest Renaissance castles in the country.

Take a romantic and scenic stroll along the Grote Bassin.

Access Boury by flying into the airports of: Lille, France or Brussels Airport
