Finish off an action-packed day by sledding down the valley to dinner or a skate on the ice rink. Beginner skiers rejoice as Engelberg has got you covered. Venture over to Gerschnialp, the nursery slopes at the foot of the Titlis where you will find three ski lifts and gentle slopes. One of Switzerland’s oldest and most idyllic villages, locals have been skiing in Andermatt for over 100 years. A real selling point of this place is the ski pass as it includes the neighbouring area of Oberlap/Sedrun where beginner slopes are around every corner. Located above the dramatic Lauterbrunnen Valley, Wengen is a small, car-free village accessible only by a 15 minute train ride. Another plus to this resort is that it is a bit on the cheaper side and is linked with Grindelwald offering some of the best scenic Swiss skiing at a lower fare. With not much chance of risky situations occurring on the slopes and a favoured spot by British tourists, this should be a real contender for your ski holiday in Basel this year.

The ski area of Adelboden – Lenk is high enough to ensure lots of good snowfall making for very pleasurable relaxed skiing. With 72 lifts, 170km of trails, good blue runs and nursery slopes you will be spoilt with a different experience each day.
