What to see in Toulouse?

As soon as your Toulouse flights arrive, you won’t want to waste any time in getting out and seeing the city. Toulouse is known as La Ville Rose (The Pink City) after the distinctive pink stone used to construct many of its buildings. It has a small city centre so is easy to navigate by foot. Toulouse has an atmospheric old town, filled with elegant squares and markets giving the town an authentic French feel. Check out the medieval Basilica of Saint-Sernin with relics of 128 saints and a thorn said to have come from the Crown of Thorns.

If you’re looking for family friendly thrills while in Toulouse, head to the Cité de l'espace, a theme park focused on space and the conquest of space, where you’ll find a 300-seat IMAX cinema and 140 seat planetarium.

 

 

Getting around

When you fly to Toulouse, the best way of getting around the city is by foot or by renting a bicycle. Toulouse’s historical old town is quite small, so you can comfortably walk to most destinations. Toulouse also has a very efficient public transport network with bus, tram and metro lines running throughout the city.  Driving isn’t recommended due to some of Toulouse’s narrow one way streets and limited city centre parking, but if you’re interested in seeing more of this corner of France, car rental is a great option.  Check out Ryanair car hire for great value deals.

 

 

What to eat in Toulouse?

Toulouse is well known for its contribution to French cuisine. Some of the most famous dishes you can find in Toulouse include Foie Gras with either duck or goose. If Toulouse is famous for anything, then it is definitely  its sausages which are marinated in red wine for 24 hours before being cooked and are considered a delicacy.
