How to get to London Stansted airport

The quickest way to get to London Stansted airport (STN) from central London is by taking the Stansted Express. It takes just over 45 minutes to reach the airport from Liverpool Street station in central London. Alternatively, you can use London’s underground railway and get to the airport in around an hour and a half. The National Express coach from the city centre is roughly a two hour journey.   • The pavements in Sofia are made of unique yellow bricks. They were produced in a brick factory in Budapest over a century ago. This yellow brick road doesn’t lead to a wizard, but rather to the city centre
  • Sofia is actually pronounced with the emphasis on the first part of the word. Make sure you say SO-fia and not a popular girl’s name
  • Sofia is prone to earthquakes. The last big one hit in 2012 but small earthquakes have become part of normal life in the city

Sofia has a varied climate. Summers in the Bulgarian capital are very warm with temperatures in July and August hitting as high as 28°C during the day. In contrast, winters in Sofia bring a lot of snow, making it a great city to visit for an affordable ski break.

Getting around Sofia is pretty stress-free via public transport. The metro stops at a lot of the main attractions in the city and there are efficient bus, tram and train systems connecting the major sights too.
